  1. The Very Best of Prince sold 179,000 equivalent copies (100,000 in pure album sales) in the week following Prince’s death,[6] thus allowing the album to re-enter the Billboard 200 at number one; this makes the album Prince’s fifth number-one on the chart.[7] The following week the album fell to number two on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 391,000 equivalent copies (216,000 in pure album sales)

  2. Wow, all the lies Michael Jackson fans spew are being challenged by the intelligence of one Prince fanatic. The Artist Formerly Known As Prince certainly gave the ego maniac a run for his money and released tons of hits.

Fun reading. Those windbag Jackson fans have it coming. What sore losers.

    • What a sore loser you’re! A blockhead brain with a much SF fantasy! Eww @ your crass effrontery! YUCK!!!!

    • Yeah, wacky’s followers are all windbags and utter dickheads. They accuse everybody else of lying and cheating, but all the time it’s they who are doing just that. LOL Priceless!

  3. Michael Jackson supporters certainly have a lot to weep about, especially since Prince passed. Fascinating sales and tributes going on for Prince. I guess it is possible to shut the world out and pretend that Michael Jackson is still on top of the world. Obviously, that is NOT reality. I’ve read that Prince’s home and recording studio, Paisley Park is going to be opened as a Prince tourist attraction and museum in Minneapolis. Prince memorabilia and records can also be sold. Interesting.

    It is Graceland Phase 2.

  4. All I could find was total sales for Prince albums in US sales for the first 3 days of his death, which was 654,861 physical albums, 3, 072, 893 digital song sales. I can not help if no update has been posted. X’s those numbers by 5 weeks. Of course, those still are not complete worldwide numbers, but “The Very Best Of Prince” alone is the biggest worldwide seller. We know that a few weeks ago, it was 2x platinum in 3 countries, the US, the UK and Australia = 6 million discs. Let us assume “The Very Best Of Prince” by itself topped 27 countries around the globe @ 2 million sold in each country. 27 x 2 is 54 million, give or take. Prince easily destroys Michael Jackson with just one hits album. Then add all of Prince’s other albums that are available. Michael Jackson was left choking on dust, beaten black, blue and purple. The dirty dancer was definitely defeated by the purple one himself. I laugh & laugh & laugh. If you haven’t noticed, Michael Jackson is still on the bottom of the charts, selling in single digits. Oops.

    • The Very Best Of Prince” by itself topped 27 countries around the globe @ 2 million sold in each country. 27 x 2 is 54 million,

      this is not true

very strange that 27 counries sold the same amout of 1 album
      how did that happen

its al in the mind and you need to inflate when the sales suck

The Very Best of Prince — 291,000- first week

  5. These are the sad posthumous releases for Wacky Jackson. All failures too. Michael is crying hard from the beyond the grave.

    1. This Is Shit (09)
    2. Michael (10) failed to go #1 (Jason Malachi on vocals)
    3. Immortal remix (11) failed to hit the top ten.
    4. Bad reissue (12) failed to hit the top ten.
    5. Xscape (14) failed to go #1 in most of the world.
Only certified gold with millions lost by Sony in promotion.
    6. Off The Wall reissue (16) peaked @ a lowly #61 in the US.

    10 album deal through 2017?

    Where are the goods?

Whats next, a reissue of the bargain bin, “Dangerous?” lol.

    • 3 albums in the us billboard charts
soon prince will disappear from the charts
prince only there for a shor while because he is dead.
he is more in the news for his drugs abuse then for his music.
tomorrow we will check the charts how prince is doing

    • looks like 2017 is michael his year not prince
it realy never was prince his year
bad sales Always in the shadow of the icon of the 80 s
like they said when prince dies the second michael jackson has died

    • prince albums didnt go to number when he was alive lol

4 enrties went to number one while he was alive

when he dies he didnt have a number one album in 10 years
he made so many albums more then michael but they didnt SELL

Prince has led the Billboard 200 four times previously, with 3121 (for one week in 2006), the Batman soundtrack (six weeks in 1989), Around the World in a Day (three weeks in 1985) and Purple Rain.

  6. Is that why Wacky Jackson can not go platinum since his first posthumous dud, “This Is Shit” in 2009?

“Xscape” (2014) only certified gold worldwide with heavy promotion. It disappeared on all charts within 6 short weeks. No impact for Michael.

Of course, we know that Wacky failed to even get one number one single since “You Are Not Alone” and “Earth Song” (only in the EU) since 1995. That is a long 21 years. May I remind you that “The Very Best Of Prince” is his latest worldwide number one in 2016. In comparsion, Wacky’s greatest hits collection, “Number Ones” stalled @ #13 in the US. Unlike Prince, it never zoomed to the top upon his death in 2009. “The Very Best Of Prince” is still in the top ten worldwide and has been certified 2x platnium in every country around the international globe. Of course, you automatically ignore that Prince scored a record breaking 5 top ten albums on the charts, just 4 weeks ago AND smashed all records for deceased artists.

  7. his sales first week after his death

In March, Sony Music Entertainment reached a deal with Jackson’s estate to release 10 albums of the singer’s music through 2017. The albums’ content will vary-a collection of previously unreleased tracks is expected in November and a reissue of Epic’s 1979 release of “Off the Wall” is anticipated next year. All told, the estate is guaranteed between $200 million and $250 million for the deal. Some of that amount was likely paid in an advance. No albums have yet been released, however. If just one of the contract’s eight years is recognized, that would add $31 million to the money the estate received in the last 12 months. At the time of the deal, John Branca, who serves as special administrator for the estate alongside John McClain, said that Elvis is the model for Jackson’s legacy. “To this day, there’s interest in Elvis,” he said. “And I think there will be enduring interest in Michael. It’s our job to continue to expose Michael to new generations

    • Michael Jackson has indeed been exposed to new generations, alright. His beaten and battered nude corpse can still be veiwed on the worldwide net for free. He was extremely scrawny, weak and his broom handle neck was easily snapped like a twig from the strong, firm hands of Dr Conrad Murray. At least we do not have to actually smell the stink of Michael Jackson’s embarrassing death. PU.

    • Of course, it is kind of difficult to find all the charts from all over the world. However, Prince’s biography did mention 27 worldwide number ones. Again, your wish is my command, but I do deserve to have dinner. Steak and lobster, please.

      1. I Wanna Be Your Lover

hot thing – was that a tribute to his sister
he blamed her for turning into gay

  9. It is extremely funny that Michael Jackson fans claimed that they believe only what Billboard publishes, but automatically eat crow because Billboard now states that Justin Bieber is the new KOP. The reason for this is because Bieber has surpassed Michael Jackson in only 7 years with number one albums, which took Wacky 47 years to achieve. In fact, Billboard knows that The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons never once put a number one album on the charts. Wacky suffered the undignity of having to wait 13 long years to finally have his first number one album with “Thriller.” It took Prince only 7 years to get his, which was “Purple Rain.”

Bieber has beaten only Michael Jackson. It apparently was easy for him to do because Wacky Jackson refused to put in the work. Hilarious.

    • List with number ones please

      please dont avoid the question

list with 27 number one singles please

  10. 1 the song – sister
    2 sinead o connor
    3 boy george
4 the extra guy on tour
    5 the elevator

  11. We know what Prince was thinking. He was thinking about God, helping people and was actively involved with “Black Lives Matter.” He composed a message song called, “Baltimore.” The song is not angry, violent or bitter. It is simply a song of peace, love and change. And Wacky?

“They Don’t Care About Us” (a violent, racist rant)
    “DS”
(about Tom Sneddon being a bad man for having the guts to go after him)
    “Tabloid Junkie” (about tabliods)
“Leave Me Alone” (again, about tabloids)
“2 Bad/Ghosts” (again, about LA Investigator, Tom Sneddon)
“Morphine” (about himself doing hardcore drugs)

Prince was definitely a much better person to admire.

Plus, Prince has 27 worldwide #1 songs, and multiple #1 songs composed by him for other artists, including hits by Tom Jones, Sinead O’ Connor, The Bangles, Stevie Nicks, Shelia E and others. Prince destroys Michael Jackson very easily. Of course, the vault material from Prince is coming soon enough. Michael Jackson is no more. The purple reign is just beginning. 2 Bad, huh?

      • The only loser I see is Michael Jackson. It is reported that he no longer has any records to break. From what has been in the news the last few years, other singers have dethroned and surpassed him in chart success, number ones, concert grosses and awards. 2016 has beeen a bad year for recording artists dying suddenly. Who is next to knock Michael Jackson off Forbes list?

        • The only sore losers are those brainless with a crass gumption & crass effrontery, shamelessness . Your shameless traits are named HYPOCRITES! Now, f*** o** sore loser! Go.. go away big, crass thick-skinned! leave… now!
